Turns out it was challenging to say the least. While I love the U.S. Census as a fabulous source of information ...
Here were just a few of the roadblocks:
a. transcription errors
b. family moving from place to place in Wisconsin
c. census taker errors (just like today when people spell Ziegler as Zeigler)
d. Gottlieb listed as "George" in one census
